The Ione Grammar School was constructed in 1882, the Grammer School was originally built by the Ione Masonic Lodge as a meeting place. This building is now home to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
By 1924, when this photograph was taken, the local Ione Band was no longer just a boys' band, and the name had been changed to the Ione Juvenile Band. The old Grammer school is in the background.
