Globe Building, The late George Mathis of Coloma sketched
this view of the Globe hotel from a photograph (now in the Amador museum and archives) taken when the building was only two stories and balconied.
The Globe's predecessor on the site was the Repiblic house and billiards saloon. Both were pulled down to build the Globe in
about 1858.
