37 Main street, built 1855. Amador Dispatch on second floor of this building in 1865, when federal cavalry, after Lincoln's assassination, arrested papers Penry and Hall and took them to Alcatraz. A Union sympathizer, probably torched the Dispatch that July, damaged story so badly it had to be pulled down.
