From Ohio, in the 1870's, came Arthur Burback (cq) McLaughlin to Amador. He married the winsome Lizzie van Vorst in 1877 in Volcano, justice of the peace C.B. Goodrich officiating.
Arthur B. mclaughlin, supervisor for eight years. His ranch on Ramshorn road was a wayside inn, consisting of eighteen rooms. An enormous barn had a loft floored for dancing, and famous parties were given there. 720 acres of ground is planted in fruits, walnuts and almonds. and many sheep were raised. The old home burned to the ground circa 1924, but a smaller place was built, where the family spend their summers.

Family includes Vannie McLaughlin Wheeler, teacher and member of the Board of Education for years, Jesse McLaughlin, Miss Anna, Louise Mclaughlin, a niece.
Arthur an elder son, George Lucot, and Mary Elizabeth.
