Belton Mine

 

 

This mine was mentioned in 1867 as having been in operation ten years, with a roasting furnace and a five-stamp mill. During this early work a depth of 250 feet was reached.

The belden mine was the largest gold producer on the east belt in Amador County from 1940 until government war-time restrictions closed the mine in Nov., 1942.
